Free websites for Hemel Hempstead businesses
I am a software engineer living in Hemel Hempstead. If you run a restaurant, takeaway, cafe, shop, salon or trade in Hemel, Boxmoor, Apsley, Adeyfield, Bennetts End, Berkhamsted, Tring or Kings Langley and you do not have a website you are proud of, I will build you a proper one. Online ordering, booking flow, mobile-first design, real hosting, real domain. Weekends only. One project at a time. Four weeks start to live. Zero cost, no catch, no upsell at the end.
How it works
Four steps, four weeks, one site at a time. Bounded so the work actually finishes.
Fill in the form
A short note about your business, where you are in Hemel Hempstead, and what you would want the site to do. The form lands in my inbox and I read it the same week.
A 30-minute chat
In person at a cafe, on the phone, or over a video call. I ask what your customers actually need from the site and we agree what the four weeks will cover.
I build it over two weekends
Saturdays and Sundays. You see progress at the end of each weekend. The work is bounded so we both know when it is done.
Two weeks of polish
You use it, you flag what feels off, I fix it. By the end of week four the site is live on your domain and you own the code, the hosting account and the email.
Who it is for
Eight kinds of local business that fit. If yours is not on the list but you are based in town, fill in the form anyway.
Restaurants and takeaways
Independent shops
Trades and builders
Salons and barbers
Cafes and bakeries
Garages and repair shops
Local charities and clubs
Dog walkers, tutors and one-person services
What is included
Everything below is in scope. If you need something not on the list, ask, and I will tell you straight whether I can fit it inside four weekends.
- A fresh design that suits your business, not a template
- A mobile-first build so the site looks right on a phone
- A clear homepage with what you do, where you are and how to reach you
- A menu, services list, or product list page where it fits
- A working contact form that emails you when somebody gets in touch
- Google Maps location and opening hours where useful
- Photos optimised for fast loading, no spinners on slow phones
- A domain set up on your behalf if you do not have one
- Hosted on Cloudflare and Vercel, fast and free to run
- Plain handover so you own everything at the end
Why I do this
A working website is the cheapest thing a local business can have and one of the things that moves the needle most. The places that look quiet on Google because they have no site are usually the ones I like best in real life. I have the skills and the weekends. If you fit, send the form.
Common questions
Is there a catch?
No catch. Nothing to pay, no follow-up bill, no maintenance contract, no required upgrade. I do this because I live here and I would rather a local business have a working website than not have one.
Why only Hemel Hempstead?
Because I want to be able to meet you in person if it helps, and because limiting the offer geographically is the only way one person can keep it real. If you are in the town or close enough that I can pop over, you fit.
Why only weekends, only one at a time?
My weekdays are full. Weekends I have time to focus on one site without splitting my attention. One project at a time means the site I am working on this month gets the full weekend, not a slice of it.
What if I already have a website?
If it works and you like it, keep it. If it is broken, dated or you do not know who runs it any more, fill in the form anyway and tell me what is wrong with it. Replacing one bad site counts.
Will you keep running it for me?
Hosting on Cloudflare and Vercel is free at the size your business needs, and I will hand the accounts to you so they cannot be taken away. If something breaks years later, you have the code in a GitHub repository I will hand over too.
How do you pick which business each month?
Order of arrival, with a small bias to the businesses that look like they would benefit most. If you fit and I cannot fit you in this month, I will tell you when I can.
A note on what this is not
This is a charitable offer for local businesses in Hemel Hempstead. It is not a service, not a hiring funnel, not a trial. The work is bounded to four weeks and one project at a time so it stays honest. For permanent senior engineering roles see /hire-me. For everything else see /contact.
Fill in the form
Tell me about your business, where you are in town, and what you want a website to do for you. I read every message and reply the same week. If this month is taken, I will tell you when the next slot opens.
